Vind jij pasfoto's ook zo ontzettend saai? Een kunstenaar dacht er ook zo over en besloot de foto's op een heel originele manier aan te pakken. Het resultaat is een bijzondere en grappige fotoreeks.

Gebrek aan zelfexpressie

Max Siedentopf is een Namibische, Duitse kunstenaar die heeft gewerkt in Berlijn, Amsterdam, Los Angeles en Londen. Hij was geïnteresseerd in pasfoto's bestemd voor wettelijke documenten omdat er bijna geen ruimte is voor zelfexpressie. 'Het onderwerp moet recht naar de camera kijken, vereist een heldere achtergrond zonder schaduw, een bril mag niet glimmen en het belangrijkst: geen glimlach', aldus Max.

Buiten het kader denken

Vandaar dat Max de uitdaging aanging om toch heel creatief te zijn met pasfoto's, maar dan wel buiten het kader. Wat voor de douane lijkt op een doodgewone pasfoto, is onder de meest bizarre omstandigheden geschoten. In de fotoserie van de kunstenaar zie je zowel de pasfoto's als de grappige originele foto's.
